Poland - Russia

The cooperation with the high school in Twer started in June 2007 when a delegation of Polish teachers from 6th Liceum visited its potential partner school in Russia. The cooperation is an opportunity for Polish students to commemorate  the victims of the Soviet crimes. They will also promulgate knowledge about our country in Russia and tighten bonds of friendship between both schools.

30 students and teachers from Twer visited Poznań in October 2007. The headmasters of both schools discussed plans concerning the future exchanges. It was decided that every two years 15 to 20 second-form students will pay a visit in Russia. The same group of students will host their Russian colleagues  a year later.

According to the agreement the Polish students will have a tour around Moskow, Twer and Torzok. They will also visit the Polish war cemetery at Mednoye known as a NKWD mass execution site and Nilov Monastery 10 km north from Ostashkov where 6500 Polish policemen were kept in 1939-1940 before being shot dead in Twer and buried in the woods near Mednoye.
Spending a week with Russian families will give our students an opportunity to become familiar with Russian everyday life and learn how much both nations have in common.

The idea of the exchange is of great interest to Polish students many of whom willingly took care of the Russian visitors in October. The visit resulted in 30 Polish students enrolling in a Russian language course organized by our school.
